To design nanoparticles suitable for agricultural practices like nutrient, pest and diseases management. 
To develop nanotechnolgy for food preservation with high nutrition quality and minimum chemical intervention.


Research Interest

    • Fruits, which is considered an important part of healthy diet, is wasted because of lack of technology, especially in some fruits which cannot be refrigerated, like chimeric fruits. We have developed graphene oxide-based wrapper amalgamated with preservative as the low-cost fruit packing system for shelf life extension in climacteric fruitsACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces, 2018, 10: 18478–18488.
    • Coming to nutrient deficiency, in India and other Asian countries iron is considered as hidden hunger. Agricultural produce being the primary nutrient source to humans, its presence needs to be improved. Although iron is abundant in soil, it is not in available form, hence often plants go iron (micronutrient) deficient. This is because of the increase in calcareous soil distribution due to modern intensive cultivation, which fixes the iron in an unavailable form. So we developed a biopolymer coated iron-loaded mesoporous composite, which can hold the iron in ionic form in the presence of carbonate ion and release specifically to the plant by sensing the iron uptake signal. Chemical Engineering Journal, 2019, 375: 121995.
    • Plant protection has always been an unsolved problem in agriculture. This is because more than 90 % of the applied pesticide is drifted away. Hence we have developed nanosticker to resist field drift and improve pesticide efficiency. This sticker has been combined with semiconducting particles to reduce the half-life of pesticides and reduce the environmental toxicity. Carbon, 2017, 115: 781-790.
