A group of researchers, led by Prof. Dipankar Mandal and Dr. Chandan Bera from the Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali, India, has proposed a new concept for engineering highly sensitive pyroelectric materials. This concept is based on monoelemental 2D chalcogenide Tellurium (Te) in a few-layer nanosheet form, exhibiting an unprecedented pyroelectric coefficient (3 µC/m²·K) and figure of merit (FoM). The study was recently published in the well-reputed journal Physical Review B (DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.111.155436).
