Vision-Mission-Objectives

The quality of education imparted to the young generation of the nation directly affects the future of country. To provide necessary infrastructure, technology information and incentives to particularly government schools of India, the Government and citizens of India have to take joint responsibility. It is also the social responsibility of Government employees to help in improving the school education in whatever way possible.

Spanning over a range from city areas to the very interiors of our country, Government schools are a key player in Indian educational system. But, in India, still great numbers of people are illiterate and millions of children do not attend school. Most of our young generation depend for their basic education need on Government schools of India. But, every year, Government schools get very little for development of infrastructure of the schools. There are huge numbers of children who are not enrolled in schools despite the best efforts as the need for additional resources has been growing day by day. For a developing nation like India, such numbers are really a roadblock in the development of nation and are highly unacceptable. The lack of resources like inadequate school infrastructure, irregular classes, overcrowded classrooms, and traditional methods of teaching have reduced the interest among students for education.

Under the broad idea of outreach program, Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) is committed to contribute significantly to the underprivileged schools of the country. INST is also taking up national initiatives like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Swasth Bharat, Smart Cities, Smart Villages, supporting the Strategic Sector, Make in India and Clean & Renewable Energy through scientific means.

INST is also promoting science and inculcating the practice to develop technology in India amongst the young generation of the nation through its Outreach program especially for rural, remote and under-served schools by delivering talks in order to scrape out the hidden gems which when polished may light up the natural and international scientific sky.

We launched our “School Adoption Programme” in May 2015 with the approval of Principal Secretary School Education, in which we have begun the process of transforming school education in our nearby areas by the active involvement of scientists of our institute and donors from individuals and corporate sectors. Vision of school adoption program is to transform backward rural and urban Government schools so that they are on par with the best schools in terms of infrastructure and academic performance.

Objectives of adopting the schools are to help and motivate them for various activities like the following:

  • Providing computers and training the students on computers by workshops and lectures.
  • Enriching the school library by donating books.
  • Developing of play ground/provision of play materials.
  • Training of students/teachers to develop various skills and improve quality of teaching.
  • Bringing selected students/teachers to the workshops/educational visits organised by INST outreach team.
  • Involving students in cultural, literary and scientific activities.
  • Donating stationary and other essential articles to the poor and needy students.
  • Providing scholarships to meritorious but poor students under INST outreach program.
  • Encouraging hard-working teachers by nominating them for best teacher award every year.
  • General awareness program by INST Scientists.
  •

    and many more initiatives....!!

By this program, we aim to enhance the quality of education in Govt. schools by imparting meaningful education. Initially, few schools have been adopted by INST to take up various initiatives aimed at improving quality in these schools. We also aim to enhance motivation of the Govt. school teachers and students to be regular to school by making learning and teaching far more interesting and effective.  Students are also exposed to various activities for skills development through motivational sessions, quizzes, educational competitions and workshops organised by INST scientists.
The commitment from INST Scientists who volunteer their valuable time to help ensure the successful implementation of the programme indeed indicates the culture of social responsibility in esteemed research organisations like INST.
